Hanna Maria Heidrich
Hanna Maria Heidrich has won numerous awards for her directing work. Fascinated by the emotional power of images from early childhood, she began drawing, photography and painting at an early age, discovering her love of filmmaking in the process.
In addition to her directing studies at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, she spent a year abroad studying theatre direction at London’s Central Saint Martins College, before gaining insights into the differences between European and American producing through a scholarship at UCLA in Los Angeles.
In 2012, she graduated from the Film Academy with a dedicated series pilot and the environmental campaign “We miss you”. The campaign, which questioned our relationship with nature, took the internet by storm and allowed her to work internationally for numerous brands. In 2022, she directed the miniseries SOULS, which premiered in Cannes and won Best Screenplay and Best Music. Since then, Hanna Maria Heidrich has received numerous international awards for her work, was voted one of the “100 most creative Germans” in the industry magazine W&V and is regularly asked to be a juror for European creative festivals.
In her work as a lecturer, she tries to encourage the next generation of directors to trust their intuition. In 2022, she founded DRCT, the first interest group for directors in the branded content sector in Germany, together with other female directors. The association campaigns for among other things, fairer working conditions in pitch processes and to solidarity and equal opportunities in the industry.
In her private life, Hanna Maria Heidrich is interested in alternative forms of society, spiritual growth, permaculture, interior design, feminism and plant-based cooking.
