Hila Limar
Hila Limar is the Managing Director of the association Visions for Children e.V. and is committed to improving educational opportunities for children in war and crisis zones. After years of voluntary work for the Hamburg-based association, she gave up her job as an architect in 2018 to devote herself full-time to her vision.
She is driven by the awareness that her own extensive education is a privilege. Convinced that education can sustainably advance society, the Afghan-born woman implements educational projects in Afghanistan and Uganda with her association. Turning away from a Eurocentric view in development cooperation and raising awareness in networks with (political) decision-makers and at German schools are also among her core topics.
Together with her sister Wana Limar, she also founded the social business SEVAR Studios. The jewelry label pays tribute to traditional Afghan craftsmanship and distributes its profits to a goldsmith training program in Afghanistan planned by Visions for Children e.V.
