Kristina Appel

What motivates you?
Curiosity and anger are my strongest impetus.
The best advice you have ever been given?
Don‘t forget to breathe.
What are you learning right now that you still have to get good at?
Roller skate dancing – I look like a deer on ice. But, sincerely: I am training to stand different opinions and attitudes better. It is tiring.
What would you chance if you had the power to do so?
Equal opportunities for all. I want to give each and everyone the chance to learn, to create, to travel and to express themselves. The starting position and family of origin should not have so much influence on a successful, happy life.

Kristina Appel thinks the best thing about journalism is the conversations and experiences you get to share, and the platform you can give to people and their stories.
Kristina Appel is Senior Editor at XING News. As a journalist, her focus is on feminism and work. Before joining XING, she was in charge of the health, society, and women and work departments at EMOTION Publishing.
Together with her colleague Julia Möhn, she realised the annual special issue WORKING WOMEN and the career event EMOTION Women’s Days. The collaboration lives on in the Working Women podcast “Wir arbeiten dran“(We’re working on it), which Möhn and Appel continue to co-host.
