Onejiru is a creative entrepreneur, activist, singer-songwriter and producer. She is the initiator and founder of FUTURE FEMALE AFRICA (FFA), a network and platform that brings together the triad of femininity, future and Africa, and co-founder of eeden, a co-creation space for visionary women in Hamburg.

Since the days of Sisters Keepers and Brothers Keepers Onejiru is known to many as an active leader for women’s empowerment*. She is committed to the cultural appreciation and visibility of artists of African descent and the diaspora.

The singer, songwriter, producer and soul activist now lives both in Hamburg and Nairobi. Born in Kenya, Onejiru went to school in Nairobi. She moved to Wanne-Eickel at a young age, trained ballet and sang in a girls’ choir. However, she would much rather have gone to a stunt or kung fu school, but there were none in Wanne-Eickel.
In order to reconcile her many interests, she studied geography, African linguistics and “ethnology” at the University of Cologne before finishing her studies with a diploma. In parallel to her studies, she devoted herself to her profession as a musician and as an activist.

After university she went on to work as a consultant and facilitator in “development cooperation”, where she contributed her experience and expertise as a change agent between the Global North and the Global South.
